Holidays 2019: Get Guest Room Ready
It’s official, Holiday Season is here! Along with the joy of the season, endless yummy treats, and fun decorations, ’tis the season to host loved ones. That calls for a quick guest room refresh to be prepared ahead of time. Click through to see how to freshen up your space for friends and family.
Take Inventory
Take a quick look around your guest room to see if anything stands out, needs to be replaced, or seems just a touch too dirty or downright broken. Your guests won’t be inspecting each and every inch of the room (hopefully) so scan the space just as your visitors would. Remove any major stains, clear out clutter, and fix (or toss) any broken items. Ensure the closet isn’t a danger zone or filled to the brim, and be sure to leave a little space and free hangers for your visitors to hang coats or party outfits. It’s looking better already!
Make The Bed
When guests travel in from far away places, getting a good night’s sleep is a must. Put on fresh sheets, a cozy comforter, and snuggle-worthy blankets. Fluff each pillow and be sure to have at least one per guest. Make sure the bed is easily able to be reached with no luggage blocking access, or items to trip over. Well rested visitors mean happy visitors which means hopefully less family arguments around the table so make that bed and make it well.
Think Like A Hotel
We don’t mean you need to include a turn down service, but take a quick moment to consider the general findings in a hotel room. For example, a bed side lamp is a considerate item to include for guests, along with access to an outlet for chargers. Friends may enjoy having a TV in the room but a wi-fi password is practically a must these days. Write it on a little notepad and leave the pen and paper just in case they need it. Bottled water or favorite treats are another extra special touch but certainly not necessary.
Get Festive
Last but not least, a thoughtful touch is lightly decorating your guest room. If you’re hosting for Thanksgiving, include some seasonal decorations in classic fall colors, or consider a pillow or wooden sign that express how thankful you are to have visitors. Christmas guests will enjoy red and green throw blankets, stockings hung just for them, or bottle-brush trees lining the dresser. Alternatively, you can opt to keep things crisp, white, silver, and snow themed for a festive Winter look. These little tasks will take you minutes but leave a lasting impression on loved ones while they stay in your home.
Are you hosting folks in your home this year? We’d love to hear about your holiday plans in the comments or over on Instagram! We hope this post inspired you to prep your guest room for the 2019 Holiday Season. Wherever your guests get to snooze, surely they’ll be glad just to be there with you.
